Building the Family and ACF Community

Mission Definition:
Build and preserve a stable, functional, and harmonious community that effectively addresses the spiritual, physical, social and emotional needs, and recognizes the diversity, of its members.


Goal 1: Teach, apply, and implement consistent biblical principles on individual responsibility, marriage, and the family.
Actions/Activities:
1. Identify core biblical principles for individual living, marriage, and family.
2. Encourage personal spiritual growth through bible study, prayer, and consistent godly living
3. Organize marriage and family seminars and retreats.
4. Encourage the use of pastoral counseling services if and when necessary
5. Gather, maintain, update and apply objective data on the family and community
6. Hold members accountable to the core principles on individual and family living

Goal 2: Teach and encourage effective communication among family members.
Actions/Activities:
1. List, clarify, and publicize our common family values
2. Encourage families and fellowships to set family/fellowship goals
3. Implement frequent and consistent family meetings and devotions
4. Organize relevant teachings, seminars, and workshops on communication
5. Encourage and facilitate family to family mentoring

Goal 3: Consistently apply biblical principles of economics and stewardship at family and fellowship affairs
Actions/Activities:
1. Educate, train, and counsel members towards a successful life
2. Develop and implement individual, family, and fellowship budgets
3. Provide training programs on financial management
4. Demonstrate faithfulness in giving at the individual, family and fellowship levels
5. Encourage diligence, resourcefulness, entrepreneurism, and generosity at all levels


Goal 4: Recognize and account for the cultural and environmental factors that impact on our values, performance and effectiveness.

Actions/Activities:
1. Consider the cultural diversity of members in program planning
2. Organize seminars on cultural issues within a biblical framework
3. Encourage productive dialogue between adults and youth, parents and children
4. Organize special activities such as training, picnics, excursions, for the children
5. Organize workshops on the American society and our mutual expectations

Goal 5: Increase the total membership of the Fellowship by at least 10% per year

Actions/Activities
1. Train ACF leaders to articulate the ACF vision
2. Organize evangelistic events and activities such as bible studies
3. Organize Africa Day activities each year
4. Develop and disseminate information on the Fellowship
5. Recruit other organizations and groups for full or affiliate membership
6. Seek referrals of arriving potential members from ministers and groups in Africa


Indices of progress/success:
Absent or minimal levels of divorce among members, retention of visitors to the fellowship, absent or few quarrels at home, level of confidence and peace children experience about their families and future, behavior and manners of children, Consistent activities for the children, readiness of children to go to fellowship, maturity in Christian life (readiness to apply what one knows to deal with decisions and issues), professional and career advances, decreasing debt level, increasing net worth, cross national friendships/visitations and interactions, academic progress and achievements of children, increasing numbers of members   total and culturally diverse).
