ACF USA engagement in Malawi has revealed a very ripe opportunity for cross-generational impact among the Yao people at a village called Chiponde. Our ministry partners, Calvary Ministry (CAPRO), recently established a primary school for kids in that village. These kids cannot make the trek to the school at a neighboring village especially during the October to March rainy season when the only road leading to the school becomes impassable. This CAPRO school, which now enrolls over 250 students in Grades 1 to 4, meets in a thatched structure with no desks or chairs (see picture in set). The pupils sit on the floor to receive instruction from the CAPRO Missionary who runs the school.
We go on mission trips to find ourselves -- that truest part of "us" that we wouldn't otherwise know or be able to tap into. We go, because we are the less-fortunate. We are the weak and broken vessels, needing to be filled with the glory of the divine. We go because we have to go in order to be complete. And yet...
When we go as humble servants, the poor, the broken, we come back more complete than if had never gone at all.
ACF shall be a thriving Christian Community that models integrity, excellence, and compassion to mobilize and empower Africans worldwide to impact their generation and Africa.
